Prussian Battalion Guns in Action
(From Deiss, das Deutsche Soldatenbuch, Leipzig 1926

Each Prussian infantry battalion was accompanied by two battalion guns. These would be either 3-pounders or 6-pounders, and would deploy on the right wing of the battalion line. Once the guns had unlimbered and begun firing, they were always advanced using manpower. The primary target was always the flag group in the enemy line, as this was regarded as bringing the best results. Canister would be used at closer ranges.
