before the Battle of Leuthen
(Drawing by Menzel)

On several occasions during the Seven Years War Frederick the Great addressed his assembled generals before a battle. The most celebrated occasion was before Leuthen in 1757, when he gave an address at Parchwitz on December 3rd. This had a great effect on officers and men alike, and truly boosted morale.
